Handmade Praying Ropes or Prayer Rope (Komboskini in Greek or Chotki in Russian) collected from Monasteries around our Orthodox World. According to the Orthodox Tradition, Osios Pahoumios, in the year of 320, establishes the first monastery in Thivaida of Egypt with the vital assistance of St.Antonios. He started seeking for various ways to help the Orthodox Brothers in discipline and in consenrtation. One night Archangel Gabriel appears to his sleep and explained how he will make the tool that would serve the needs of the prayer. From that moment we have the first praying rope, it was made with 33 knots, like the years of our Christ and the two ends connected with a cross.
